There are so many Young Adult Trilogies and Series, most of them of the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. There are new ones coming out all the time and I still haven’t managed to catch up yet. So I have set the next month aside to kind of try and start or continue series or trilogies that have been on my TBR list for a while. And here they are in no particular order.
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer- I read Cinder about a year or more ago. I vaguely remember enjoying it but the novel didn’t make a lasting impression so I have hesitated time and time again about whether or not I should continue the series. But since I have the entire series, I kind of have to read it eventually. The second novel in the series is called Scarlet and is loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood. That alone is enough to encourage me to continue the series, as I have always been a little obsessed with Red Riding Hood. I have also heard that the series gets better with each book, if that is true I will be marathoning through this series. Finally, I know.
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – I’ve watched the movie and the series and I’ve come across the fandom too many times not to be intrigued. I have started City of Bone and I have to say that so far the book is a million time better than the movie or the series. I now understand why so many fans were upset about the movie and the series. However, I am struggling to finish City of Bones because it is rather slow paced and I didn’t expect that. I definitely won’t be able to marathon this series. I think I’ll have to make my way through this one slowly.
Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen – This was one of those cover-buys. Yes I am guilty of judging a book by it’s cover, I can’t help it I just like pretty books. It has been on my shelf since Christmas and one of the reason I have put it off in the last few months was because of the mixed reviews on Goodreads. However, recently a good friend of mine recommended it. Plus I am in the mood for something high fantasy. I recently managed to get a copy of Invasion of the Tearling at a really discounted price so this series has been bumped up somewhere close to the top of my TBR list.
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes – I love fantasy and this series looks promising. I don’t actually know much about the series other than that have been told that it is good and that I should read it. I’ve managed to get the first three novels in the series so I might just marathon it.
The Lotus War Trilogy by Jay Kristoff – After reading Illuminae last year Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman have become some of my favourite authors. The Lotus Wars have been described as Japanese Steampunk and that is enough to get me excited. I found the second book for R50 at The Book People and immediately ordered the rest of the trilogy from Raru. I really can’t wait to get into the first book Stormdancer.
