I remember a time when South African bibliophiles drooled like sad little puppies as we watched all the international bookstagrammers and booktubers unpack boxes of bookish loot. We watched their videos in envy, wishing the shipping didn’t cost us a kidney so we could also enjoy the thrill of unpacking a mysterious box filled with all bookish things imaginable.
Luckily for us things have improved over here in the Southern Hemisphere and we still have most of our organs. In the last year or so local bookish subscription boxes have made it into the market thanks to a couple of awesome ladies. A while ago I did a review of The Book Case, which is an epic monthly bookish subscription box. You can find my review here.
Today I’d like to introduce you to a fairly new quarterly subscription box called FableCrate. I am proud to say I am a FableCrate YA rep. I recently received my first box which was a Wonder Woman pop-up box and featured the highly anticipated Wonder Woman – Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo, who also happens to be one of my favourite fantasy authors.
If you follow me on Instagram you may have met awkward Dee in my live video. #dontjudgeme I was thoroughly impressed with all the goodies featured in the box. Yonita really went out of her way to add personalise touch by hand painting the each box.
The Wonder Woman Box featured:
DC’s Wonder Wonder DVD (2017) – I watched Wonder Woman for the first time on Saturday and was rather impressed. Gal Gadot did a good job in her portrayal of Wonder Woman and I’m amped to see more of her in this role.
DC Universe: Wonder Woman DVD (2009) – I vaguely recall watching this animated film with my nephew a while back so I’ll probably rewatch it with him at our next movie night.
Wonder Woman Print and Bookmark by Robin Erispe – I love this print, Robin’s artwork is dope. You should go and check out his work in Instagram. (@planrob)
Collectible Wonder Woman Mug – This mug is legit my favourite thing right now. Anyone who knows me will know that I drink a lot of tea and have a thing for collectible mugs. IDK, I’m actually a snooty old British woman stuck in a 24 year old bibliophile’s body.
Wonder Candle by The Geeky Nose – The candle collection just keeps growing, but I am not complaining. This candle is so yummy. Smells like it would taste nice if I licked it – it doesn’t – but who’d be crazy enough to lick a candle anyway?
Jelly Belly Wonder Woman Candy – Nom noms… Like I really want to eat them but I also don’t because then they’ll be gone. This is my life guys.
And last but not least, Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo – This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017. I am so glad I resisted buying it as soon as it released because now I have a collector’s edition with a dope poster in the back. #winning
I can’t wait to see what FableCrate has in store for the next box.
Don’t forget that the Wonder Woman box is still available for purchase and if you use my coupon code MIDNIGHT5 you’ll receive a 5% discount on your first box. You can order the box here. Happy FableShopping bibliophiles!
