When June started I had a rather ambitious Winter TBR list, and while I did not read everything on my Winter TBR list I am rather satisfied with the six book I managed to finish during June.
I enjoyed this retelling of Arabian Nights. It was an engaging read and I particularly enjoyed the fact that it more or less stuck to the essential elements that made Arabian Nights a classic while still maintaining a unique plot filled with suspense, mystery and magic. I did a full review that you can read over here.
This novel completely surprised me. It is definitely not a novel I would normally read however I really enjoyed it. The fact that it was so different from my usual fantasy read was refreshing. On top of that it was a novel about a bookstore and all the strange things that happened in this particular bookstore. The book itself, along with the plot and the characters is an enigma and I feel as though any explanation or summary would not do this novel any justice. That being said, I gave it five stars on Goodread. If you love books, a good mystery, Google and the allure of immortality you have to read this book.
A fun and entertaining read. I love the writing style, the world building is solid and the plot is well thought out. However, when it comes to romance Maas and I always seem to be on different pages. I don’t like the love triangle that is developing and there are certain things that happen that irritated the feminist side of me. Nonetheless, I gave it a 3.7 stars on Goodreads and I will definitely read the other books in this trilogy. I will be posting a detailed review soon.
I devoured this novel and read until 3am and I was an emotional wreck by the end of it. This is one of those teary reads that you just can’t put down. I can’t wait to see the movie, even it is anything like the novel I gonna need a fresh box of Kleenex. I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.
I read Cinder quite a while ago and the hype kind of affected my enjoyment of the novel and I was rather disappointed by the end of it. However Scarlet is such a great improvement. I love the characters, the plot twist actually surprised me and I am super excited to read Cress. I gave Scarlet 4 stars on Goodreads.
I love the TV series so naturally I bought the books. This book is amazing, 900 pages about Claire and Jamie so I cannot complain. It has also made me want to visit Scotland again very soon. This deserves so much more than 5 stars.
I had a pretty good reading month despite not reading all the books on my TBR. Have you read any of the above novels? If so, let me know in the comment section below.
