I can’t believe the year is coming to an end. It’s December already! Whaaat?

November flew by quite quickly. I participated in NaNoWriMo which i survived. Didn’t quite make 50 000 but I wrote every day and I’m proud of my 37 000 or more words. So of course, I haven’t been able to read as much as I would like.

I managed to get through about 3 and a half books. I say 3 and a half because I finished two novels, read two novella and read a couple of on going Wattpad stories.

img_20151118_151457.jpgThe first book I finished this month was Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I did feel like the beginning was a bit slow and depressing. I also had a couple of issues with some of the characters both new and old. But I have a new favourite character too, can’t wait to see how she’ll develop in Queen of Shadow. I’ll be writing a review of HoF soon. Hopefully, it’ll be up sometime next week.

I started rereading Harry Potter! The end of year has always been Harry Potter time for me so since I haven’t reread the series in years, 20151201_182557.jpgI thought that now would be the right time. I also conveniently got the entire series in audiobooks recently, so I’ve been listening to them while working. I’ve finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and was so surprised by how short it is. It was so much fun though, and I’ll most likely reread it when I finally get the illustrated version. I’ve jumped right into the Chamber of Secrets yesterday and it is just so much fun. Nostalgia…

img_20151121_001151.jpgI’ve been struggling through The Assasin’s Blade. I am not sure why, it’s not like there’s anything wrong with the novellas, rather that I think I need a break from the Throne of Glass Series. I’ve been reading this series back to back since the middle of October and it is starting to feel like I’m reading this really long book. Sometimes it is difficult for me to differentiate between the books… And the thing is, on the one hand I really want to read Queen of Shadows asap, while on the other hand I feel like I need to get through the Assasin’s Blade first to fully get all the references in QoS. I know that if I force my way through AB, I’m not going to enjoy QoS as much as I’d like to. So it’s official, I’m giving ToG a break, but there’s a possibility I might pick it up when I’m on Christmas break.

I’ve got into Wattpad recently when I was in search of really light bite-sized reads. The first story I read is an ongoing  story called Sleep Deprived by thepurplerose. The story was entertaining enough to keep me reading but nothing to go crazy about.

The other is an ongoing story called The One Without Words by destacia. I thought the premise was interesting, although halfway through the story I started to get annoyed, because of the cheesy back and forth romance (or lack thereof). But I applaud the authors on Wattpad because they are actively writer and improving all the time.

I really dig it though, because it’s really nice to read stories by young writers who are basically on the same journey as me and many other writers out there. We’re on a journey to discover of voices and find our feet in the world of fiction.

I’ll be back with my December TBR and my November Book Haul (it’s a big one) soon.

Congratulations on all the words you wrote during NaNo! Woo hoo! I love the Harry Potter series. It’s definitely on my list of books to re-read, though I rarely re-read anything – just too many new books calling to me! Have a great week.

Thanks 🙂 I haven’t touched my NaNoWriMo project in the last 2 weeks. I think I need the break and will have to get back to it in a couple of weeks. Harry Potter is worth the reread always. <3
